About Jeff
E.R. “Jeff” Jefferies, Jr. was raised in a military family and traveled throughout his youth. When deciding to start a family and career, he chose Chesapeake. He has served with distinction in the Chesapeake Police Department for more than 20 years. During his tenure, he has acquired frontline, executive, and command-level leadership experience. Jeff currently serves as a Captain assigned to the Investigations Bureau. Additionally, before selling, he was also a co-owner of Crossfit Chesapeake for many years. Jeff has been happily married for over 20 years to his wife Traci and together they have raised two amazing daughters. Traci is a special education teacher with Chesapeake Public Schools. Maya is a junior at Christopher Newport University where she is majoring in social work. Their younger daughter, Madison recently committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Roanoke College where she will study Physical Therapy and play on the girls volleyball team. The Jefferies Family are all dedicated to serving their communtiy and helping others. They also have four rescue dogs they love to spoil!

Schools
Chesapeake Public Schools has an exceptional reputation. However, there are always opportunities for improvement. Jeff is dedicated to partnering with the School Board, parents, and educators to raise educational standards and elevate safety. He believes that our schools must attract and retain the most qualified educators while fostering an environment of excellence that will prepare our children for the demands of an ever-evolving job market.
Taxes
Jeff is committed to delivering the greatest return on your tax dollars while responsibly managing growth to ensure Chesapeake residents continue to experience the lowest overall tax burden in Hampton Roads.
Public Safety
Chesapeake has historically been one of the safest cities, for its size, in the nation. If this is expected to continue, it is imperative that we invest in our public safety partners. Public safety must be the best trained and equipped for their mission. This requires attracting and hiring the most suitable candidates and in order to do so, they must be compensated accordingly.
Economic Development - Responsible Growth
Chesapeake offers safe communities and a desirable school system that should attract new businesses. Jeff believes that efforts must be made to streamline and incentivize new business development and the migration of existing businesses to our community. He also understands the need for increased infrastructure to support this growth.
